Commerce Systems
Shopify builds, migrations and the systems behind the store
I am Ridge Nelson, an independent builder. I work with merchants who need a store fixed, rebuilt or moved, and with agencies that need a reliable pair of hands on the Shopify side. Every job starts with a written scope and a written price.
Problems I am usually hired for
- A store with one fault you cannot get fixed: a broken section, a slow page, a checkout path that confuses people.
- A store that under-performs and a team that cannot tell why.
- An old theme or another platform that needs to move to Shopify, with redirects and tracking kept.
- Orders, inventory or fulfilment that do not talk to each other.
- An agency with more Shopify tickets than hands.
One-fault sprint
One named problem on your live store, found and fixed on a duplicate theme, checked on phone and desktop, with a written list of the next three. Capped at ten hours.
Store launch or rebuild
An Online Store 2.0 theme set up and styled, key templates, product and collection pages, launch checks. For smaller catalogs.
Commerce systems diagnostic
For a store that under-performs and a team that cannot tell why. A written review of the storefront, catalog, checkout path, data and tracking, with ranked fixes and a quoted next step. Paid, fixed scope, and you can take the report to any developer.
Migration and replatforming
Products, collections, redirects and tracking moved to Shopify, or an old theme moved to a current one. Scoped on a short call, priced in writing before any work.
Integrations and tracking
Order, inventory and fulfilment workflows with signed webhooks, safe retries and an Admin API that does not double-write. Tracking setup, scoped to your store and agreed in writing before work starts.
White-label capacity
One ticket first, 4 to 8 hours, built in your theme from your design and handed back in your repo or staging. Work under your name, no outreach to your clients.
Proof, labelled honestly
OVREL
My own art-print store. A custom Liquid theme, 285 works loaded through the Admin API, and an order-routing service with verified webhooks and an automated test suite. It is my own business, not a client case, and I do not quote its sales.
Shopify commerce lab
Public, tested sample code for two jobs: webhooks with signature checks, duplicate protection and retries, and a bulk Admin API updater that shows a dry run first. 44 passing tests against a mock API. It has not been run on a client store and it is not client work.
Origin Pilates
A mobile-first studio website I designed and built for the owner, who approved showing it. A website, not a store, and I make no performance claims for it.
How it works
A short call or an email with your store link. I send a written scope, a fixed price and a delivery date. I work on a duplicate unpublished theme, so your live store stays as it is until you say publish, and the old theme stays as the rollback. You get a one page handoff note. I direct the build with AI tools, then review, test and ship every change myself.

Why this approach
The first job is small, paid and in writing, so you can judge the work before you commit to more. The report or handoff note is yours, and you can take it to any developer.
What I do not do
Shopify Plus checkout extensibility, headless builds, custom public apps, WordPress, and Klaviyo flows. I have no Shopify client case with results to quote yet, which is why the first job is small and paid.
